WHO WE ARE

Travel'n Mandogs was established in 1995 with the purpose and objective of providing a service to private “Corp America” that would fulfill the need of professionally trained and handled dog teams to augment their security systems.

I began working with dogs in training for police work in 1970.  While working for Inglewood Police Department, I attended and instructed many training courses, worked three separate K-9s over a period of twelve years. Among other certifications and positions I have held, a Master Trainer/Kennel Master Certificate from Mandlyn Kennels under the direction of the late, Mr. Ray Marquois. In 1981 I was the K-9 Program Director with the Inglewood Police Department, the training director Los Angeles Schutzhund Club.

I have bred, raised, and trained in excess of 100 working dogs that have obtained degrees in both sport and police trails.  I have trained various breeds, but have concentrated on German Shepherds, Labradors and Belgium Malinois for service detection work.

I have trained, worked and managed service dogs for more than 30 years consecutively.  Presently I am a working manager/handler of EDD teams deployed in the private sector, contracted with “Fortune 500” companies.

We attempt to integrate my company’s training and certification process to include assistance from Auburn University’s Canine Detection Training Institute http://www.vetmed.auburn.edu/cdri/ and Florida International University’s Forensic Certification Program http://www.fiu.edu/~ifri/.

Like so many of us in the International Explosive Detection Dog Association, I feel we need a reliable standard, with scientific help, that will improve abilities and cull out improperly, poorly selected and trained dogs.
